Local Clay Potters' Guild is a group of 22 professional artists living and working in South Central Indiana. The holiday show features functional pottery made from stoneware and porcelain clays, as well as, free standing and wall mounted sculptural pieces. The work is hand built and wheel thrown. Each piece is unique due to the variations in natural materials and the firing process in each kiln. The work is decorated and glazed using a variety of minerals and techniques. The result is a wide range of form, color and texture in these one of a kind pieces. The show is displayed as a gallery setting.
The Bloomington Spinners & Weavers Guild, established in the early 1980’s is made of up 40 professional and non-professional fiber artists. Their mission is to raise public awareness about the fiber arts and to provide a forum for the growth and education for their members. Many in the guild raise fiber producing animals and plants, spin, and hand-dye their yarns. They have sponsored a fall fiber show and sale since 1986. Made from a variety of fibers, the show features quality handcrafted wearable art such as scarves, shawls, and jackets, items for the home such as rugs, blankets, tea towels, and baskets, vintage inspired beaded purses, handmade paper items, and felted works of art. Their members demonstrate spinning and weaving throughout the show.
Indiana Glass Guild is open to all who dream about glass, work with glass, admire glass or just want to learn more about glass.
